I don't have any pictures to show this week. It was a little crazy since I started my college classes on Monday. I can't wait to figure out how to balance everything!
This week in My Father's World was great! We started learning about North America; specifically the United States. We are learning about deciduous and evergreen trees and forests. In science we sketched and labeled a tree. In Bible we did some introduction into the book of Matthew. We are going to be memorizing verses from that book starting next week. We also read about Dwight L. Moody and learned some character traits from him. Andrew is still reading Kingdom Tales and I am still reading Little House in the Big Woods to the kids. We went to the library again today and I think all the books we checked out were from the non-fiction section.
Our subjects such as Math, English, and Spelling are going well. We are starting Spelling Power with Abby and it's been interesting! She is a good speller and has been so excited to start spelling! First she had a placement test. The next day she had a survey test. The next day she had to give me a writing sample so I could look at the misspelled words. Now we know what flow chart to start on Monday. I've heard good things about Spelling Power, so I hope it goes well!
In Math, we are still reviewing and I think that's a good thing for us right now. Since we are just starting with homeschooling, I think it's good to not have issues in math. We have enough issues besides that!
Audrey still has her moments of complaining when I open a workbook or ask her to recite a poem. She can do the work, she just doesn't want to. I think she did better this week, though.
Now I need to get better at organizing my time for my college classes!
Glad to hear that Audrey's getting a little more accustomed to the idea of homeschooling and that things are going well!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to start Spelling Power sometime too! Maybe in a few years. And I agree about Math...it's nice to have kind of a "focus" in certain subjects while you're learning something new, and review in others. Still excited to read what's happening each week!
