Week 4, Rome to the Reformation

English from the Roots Up: We have been working on Latin roots. The girls have been writing two per week onto their index cards, and they are up to eight (octo). We have finally started spelling. The girls have both tested higher than their grade levels, which is nice to know. (At least they'll be able to spell when they graduate.)

This week we began reading the book, "The Bronze Bow." I read this book over the summer break and I loved it! I love reading books that give me a little insight on how life was way back when. The characters in this book interacted with Jesus. I can't wait for the children to make the character connections between this book and the Bible. They smile when they recognize names of cities such as Capernaum and Galilee.

In science, the girls made a model of the five senses. It looks a little creepy, but it's very informative. Here are some photos.
