Week 1 - CTG

Monday - Day 1:
We are memorizing 2 Timothy 3:16. We are also reading through Genesis for the account of Creation. Our Greek root word of the week is biblos. We are reading a book called Dinosaurs of Eden, by creation scientist Ken Ham. It's interesting and I need Andrew to read it and give me his opinion. I just realized that I forgot all about the book basket! I need to get to the library asap!

Tuesday - Day 2:
Okay, we went to the library last night and got a ton of books! I love it! We got ABC and apple books for Adam - he's learning about the letter A this week. He knows it already, but he's doing fun and educational "busy work." The girls got books about the Biblical Feast, "Shabbat." We are celebrating Shabbat (the Sabbath) on Friday & Saturday of this week. They also got science books about light. They are looking forward to the experiments this year. Today is Abby's birthday, so they got all their school done before lunch and we went to the pool for the afternoon. We all had a ton of fun!

Wednesday - Day 3:
So this book Dinosaurs of Eden is turning out to be very interesting. It talks about why Dinosaurs are not mentioned in the Bible (because the word "dinosaur" was not used until 1841.) However, there are "dragons" in the Bible. (KJV) I am really enjoying this new (to me) point of view. Adam got to make a letter A collage with Apple Jacks, and we read Ten Apples Up on Top

Thursday - Day 4:
We had a test on the Greek root biblos. The girls did well, but Audrey is having a hard time doing real work. She thinks school should be all about drawing and coloring. They also had a test on their memory verse for the week, 2 Timothy 3:16, and they both passed with flying colors. They are making a spice box for Sabbath. Adam is not enjoying coloring Bible story pages, but he likes to do things with the letter A. He did a letter hunt paper where he circled all the letters A. We read another Dr. Seuss book, Dr. Seuss's ABCs.

Friday - Day 5:
Today was supposed to be all about preparing for Sabbath. We were supposed to clean the whole house and prepare the meals for Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. I wish I had a wind-up key on my motivation level. I was pretty tired today, so we did what we could. We celebrated Sabbath more than any other time in our lives, so it was a success. I made Challah bread and it scared me at first because it took a long time to rise. My kitchen must have been too cold for the yeast. Then, as the bread was almost done baking, I thought it smelled like it was burning. It turned out to be a little well-done, but it was still good.

Overall, it was a good first week back to school.
