The Decision

The decision to pull our kids out of public school and teach them at home might surprise some people. We love the school district that the kids were in. They provided school supplies for every child. The PTA was a pleasure to be a part of. They did SO much for the kids. The teachers and administrators that we encountered were great. The situation that we found ourselves in was that we wanted to provide a Christian education to our children. Unfortunately, we can't afford to send our kids to private school. I started looking into just teaching them Bible at home, but then we had some other issues pop up with Abigail. Her attitude toward the entire family was (and is) horrible. I have a feeling that keeping her at home will (hopefully... eventually...) change her attitude for the better. We feel that God has led us to this decision. We also feel that God led us to the curriculum that we chose to use this year. I am excited to see what He is going to do with this new adventure. I know we will need your prayers. Especially this mama who is a wee bit selfish about needing quiet and computer time. Yes... lots of prayers. =)

  2. Wow! That's BIG news. But I think y'all will be great at homeschooling!! I know tons & tons of HS'ers so if you need me to connect you w/ other HS moms, let me know. My older sister has HS'd ever since her kids were little, so 4 of the 5 have never even been to 'regular' school.

  3. Wow, amazing. I think that you will see changes rather quickly. What amazes me most over and over is how much God has and is transforming through homeschooling!!!! Just think balance and finding that schedule that works for you as well as the kids!!!!! And yes, don't forget to schedule you some quiet time or burn out will come rather quickly!!! Can't wait to join you on this journey of your first year at homeschooling!!!!
